Apple's HidrateSpark Smart Bottle |
The one thing many of us admit is staying hydrated. Most of them do not drink enough water during the day. Fortunately, the technology has come up with a solution: the smart water bottle. Below we present the Smart Bottle HydrateSpark from Apple that reminds you to drink enough water every day and contains other features.
Apple invents a smart bottle HidrateSpark
1-What is a smart water bottle?
Smart water bottles can help you keep track of your water intake. Many of them also sync with other smart devices you might already own, such as a fitness tracker or Apple Watch, and some even have their own apps. Based on parameters like height, weight, and more, they can monitor your drinking habits to determine if you're drinking enough water throughout the day. Furthermore, smart bottles can use this data to provide reminders, taking the guesswork out of staying hydrated.
2-Company HidrateSpark
HidrateSpark has been a leader in the smart bottle industry for a number of years. Their latest offering, Hidrate Spark 3, is the company's most advanced smart water bottle to date. The bottle has a sensor inside the bottle that measures and records the amount of water you drink. This data is then sent to its companion app via Bluetooth.

What sets Hidrate Spark apart is how it reminds you to drink more water. Many smart bottles rely on companion apps to do this; However, the Hidrate Spark bottle fully lights up when you should take another sip. Moreover, you can choose from three different lighting patterns to ensure that it grabs your attention. Additionally, you can set reminders at regular intervals or when the app determines that you are behind your water intake goal.
Hidrate Spark is BPA-free and features a silicone coating. This exoskeleton improves cohesion and reduces condensation. Additionally, the bottle fits standard cup holders, bike bottle cages, and backpack bottle pockets. Unfortunately, due to the sensor located on the inside of the bottle, it is not recommended to use any liquid other than water in Hidrate Spark, including hot water.
The hidratespark Smart Bottle is $56 at Amazon.
3-Hidratespark's Apple patent or infringement by another company
Apple is facing a new lawsuit, accusing it of infringing a patent for smart water bottles that connect to smartwatches.

The lawsuit was filed by Xennial IP LLC, where the company's two patents cover a "communicative sports water bottle" feature that can connect to a smartwatch and track health metrics related to a user, such as the amount of water consumed.
Apple Insider reports that Apple doesn't make its smart bottles with connectivity, however, it does offer devices from HidrateSpark that can connect to Apple Watches, monitor fluid intake, and set daily goals.
The complaint, filed in US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, alleges that Apple directly infringes patent No. 409 by manufacturing, using, testing, displaying, and importing HidrateSpark water bottles. It considers the bottle system to violate Xennial's IP system, as it contains a "bottle body with a base and sidewall that extends upwards", as well as smart systems such as a sensor and Bluetooth connection.
